Police seek suspect in Peru armed robbery

PERU – State police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed a Stewart’s Shop here, brandishing a gun.

Plattsburgh-based state police, in a press release issued Thursday, said an armed robbery was reported to them at about 10:35 p.m. Wednesday. The robbery occurred at the Stewart’s Shop on Main Street (state Route 22).

Police said an unidentified white male entered the store wearing a mask “or some other material” to hide his face, a dark-colored jacket, blue jeans and dark-colored shoes. No further description of the suspect was available as of Thursday morning.

“The suspect displayed what appeared to be a black-colored semi-automatic handgun and demanded money,” police said in the release. “The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money and was observed fleeing the scene in a small, dark-colored car with an aftermarket rear wing/spoiler.”
