Red Storm hoops falls short
SARANAC LAKE – The Saranac Lake boys basketball team came up just short Thursday night in a 47-45 Champlain Valley Athletice Conference loss to Beekmantown.
The Red Storm led by three with under two minutes left in the game, but the Eagles rallied to overtake the lead. Saranac Lake had a chance to tie in the closing seconds, but a fast break layup was off the mark.
Kevin Morgan paced the Red Storm offense with a career-high 27 points, while teammate Teddy Yanchitis chipped in with seven. Kellen Munn connected for five points.
Beekmantown’s Keegan Ryan led all scorers in the game with 29 points. Greg Manney added eight points with two 3-pointers.
Saranac Lake led 11-6 after the first quarter, but the Eagles rebounded to take a 21-20 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The game was tied at 31-31 after three quarters.
Willsboro 38, Lake Placid 24
LAKE PLACID – The Willsboro boys basketball team outscored Lake Placid 24-12 in the fourth quarter on the way to a 38-24 victory Thursday night.
Tarik Cecunjanin led the way offensively for the Blue Bombers with 11 points.
Willsboro’s Nick Arnold scored a game-high 23 points, 14 of which came in the fourth quarter.
Lake Placid led 11-10 after the first half, but trailed 14-12 by the end of the third.
