Joanne Boushie-Lanthier

TUPPER LAKE – Joanne Boushie-Lanthier, 75, was called to eternal life on Jan. 9, 2013, with her family at her side following a long illness.

She was born April 26, 1937, in Tupper Lake, the oldest child of Willard and Francis (Hough) Boushie.

On May 24, 1953, Joanne married the love of her life, Donald Lanthier, at St. Alphonsus Church. During their 59-year marriage they raised seven children and were always a big part of their grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s lives.

Joanne was a hard-working woman, a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was employed at various local restaurants, most memorably the Altamont Dairy and Mason’s Restaurant. In the late 1980s Joanne was employed by Sunmount DDSO as a developmental aide. She retired in the spring of 2002.

Throughout Joanne’s life she enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved family gatherings. Anyone who knew Joanne was always touched by her wonderful sense of humor. Joanne always made people smile and laugh.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband Donald, her son Garry and his wife Louise, her son Laurence “Larry,” her daughter Karen Bennett and her husband Donald, her son Kevin and his wife Paula of Saranac Lake, her daughter Kathy Christy and her husband Walt, her daughter Darcy Varden and her husband Mark, and her daughter Kristy Muncil and her husband Ben of Bloomingdale. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Joanne is also survived by her sister Janet Davies and her husband James, her brother Raymond and his wife Mary – who all reside in Florida – her sister Nancy DeGrace and her husband Robert, and her brother Peter Matthews of Texas.

Joanne is predeceased by both her parents Willard and Francis, her stepmother Gloria, and her grandson Laurence Donald Lanthier Jr.

The Lanthier family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude towards the compassionate care Joanne received during her illness from her sister-in-law Sue Gillis, longtime friend Helen Besaw and her new friend Abby Amer. Your love and generosity given to Joanne during this time was a blessing to our family. Thank you for all you have done for Joanne.

The family would also like to extend their gratitude to the Franklin County nursing services, staff at Adirondack Medical Center and Dr. Schwartzberg.

Calling hours for Joanne will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 24 Cliff Ave., Tupper Lake. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 at St. Alphonsus Church.

Donations in Joanne’s memory can be made to the Tupper Lake Volunteer Ambulance and Emergency Squad, the Adirondack Adult Center or the Tupper Lake Food Pantry. Online condolences may be made at
