Cougars pull away from Red Storm in overtime

SARANAC LAKE – The Northeastern Clinton girls basketball team outscored Saranac Lake 8-3 in overtime Thursday to secure a 45-40 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory.

The Red Storm had a chance to finish the game in regulation, but missed a shot with under a minute remaining and were forced to play an extra period. Jordan Dominic scored all eight of the Cougars’ points in overtime to lead her team to the win.

Nicole Viscardo was the leading scorer for Saranac Lake with 11 points. Katy Buckley and Megan Kilroy each scored eight points and Jennifer Ward chipped in seven.

Dominic led all scorers with 17 points, nine of which came on 3-pointers. Allie Cartier added 11 points for Northeastern Clinton.

Madrid-Waddington 42, Tupper Lake 26

TUPPER LAKE – The Madrid-Waddington girls basketball team continued its perfect run through the Northern Athletic Conference North Division on Thursday with a 42-26 victory over Tupper Lake.

The Yellow Jackets outscored Tupper Lake 17-3 in the fourth quarter to secure the victory. Madrid-Waddington is 5-0 in league games and 10-1 overall.

Katie Stuart did a little bit of everything for Tupper Lake, racking up 14 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots. Teammate Ryane O’Connor pulled down 10 rebounds.

Tess Knight and Jenn King each had 12 points for Madrid-Waddington.

Tupper Lake is 3-2 in division games and 7-5 overall.

Ticonderoga 40, Lake Placid 19

LAKE PLACID – The Ticonderoga girls basketball team turned a 9-0 second quarter into a 40-19 victory over Lake Placid on Thursday.

The Blue Bombers trailed 10-9 after the first quarter, before being blanked in the second and outscored 11-4 in the third.

Hanna Potter led Lake Placid offensively with seven points, followed by Chloe Uebrick who scored four.

Ticonderoga’s Andrea Rich was the game’s leading scorer with 18 points.
