NBC late-night star Fallon visits Lake Placid, Whiteface

LAKE PLACID – Late-night talk show host and “Saturday Night Live” alum Jimmy Fallon enjoyed a getaway in the Olympic Region recently.

The host of “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” which airs weekday nights on NBC right after “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” took to Twitter on Thursday and promised to visit the area again. He also thanked several local businesses.

“Thanks to Whiteface, Lake Placid Lodge, Maui North and the locals in Lake Placid, NY,” he tweeted. “I shall return.”

Fallon, who tweets at @jimmyfallon, also posted a photograph of himself and his wife, Nancy Juvonen, on Instagram, showing the couple decked out in ski gear, snuggled together on a deck with Whiteface Mountain in the background. Juvonen works as a film producer, according to her Wikipedia page.

Fallon was in the area to visit, not to shoot film for his show, according to a spokesperson for NBC.

The Whiteface Mountain Ski Center, located in the town of Wilmington, is operated by the state Olympic Regional Development Authority. ORDA spokesman Jon Lundin said he wasn’t aware that Fallon had visited.

“That’s great,” he told the Enterprise upon hearing of Fallon’s Twitter thank-you note. “It’s always great to have some celebrities give us a shout-out for what we do so well.”
