Red Storm hockey splits weekend games
The Saranac Lake boys hockey team won on Friday and lost Saturday to set its record at 4-6-3 going into the final stretch of the season.
The Red Storm downed Fulton 4-0 on Friday in Saranac Lake with the help of two goals and an assist by Grant Strack. Christian Thomas and Nick Bayruns also scored in the game, while freshman goaltender Justin Farmer recorded the shutout with 21 saves.
Saranac Lake outshot Fulton 31-21.
On Saturday, the Red Storm traveled to Rouses Point to take on Northeastern Clinton in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference game. NCCS scored a goal in the second period and added another in the third to pick up the 2-0 victory.
Alex Duffy and Jordan LaMere accounted for the Cougars’ goals.
Famer stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced against Northeastern Clinton.
The Cougars are 6-7 overall and 3-2 in conference matchups.
Lake Placid 8, Fulton 0
LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid boys hockey team scored early and often Friday on the way to an 8-0 victory over Fulton.
Eddie Kane had two goals and two assists to lead the Blue Bombers, who scored three in each of the first two periods to take control of the game.
Pat Kane, Chris Williams, Ryan Damp, Keegan Barney and Kiefer Casler each scored for Lake Placid.
Jeffrey Smith, Kamm Cassidy and Tucker Angelopoulos tended net for the Blue Bombers and combined for 11 saves. Lake Placid held a 31-8 advantage on shots.
Lake Placid will host Beekmantown on Tuesday night in an important CVAC matchup.
