Big finish carries Indians past Red Storm

SARANAC LAKE – The Peru boys basketball team used a big fourth quarter Wednesday to defeat Saranac Lake 54-42 in a Champlain Valley Athletic Conference matchup.

The Indians made 10-of-12 free throws in the final quarter, outscoring the Red Storm 19-8. Peru went into the fourth clinging to a 35-34 lead.

Kellen Munn and Kevin Morgan each scored 15 points to lead Saranac Lake offensively. Munn chipped in 10 rebounds, while Morgan dished out five assists.

Saranac Lake’s Big Three – Munn, Morgan and Teddy Yanchitis (12 points) – accounted for all of the Red Storm’s points.

Mackenzie LaRoucque had 10 points and Conor Casey hit for 10 to pace the Indians.

Schroon Lake 66, Lake Placid 18

SCHROON LAKE – The Schroon Lake boys basketball team raced out to a 42-9 lead by halftime and never looked back on the way to a 66-18 trouncing of Lake Placid on Wednesday.

Tarik Cecunjanin and Garrett Woodruff scored six points apiece to lead the Blue Bombers.

Jesse Shaughnessy led all scorers with 22 points to lead the Wildcats, who have yet to lose a game this season in 12 tries.
