No serious injuries in McColloms rollover
PAUL SMITHS – Two people were taken to the hospital after a one-car rollover accident on state Route 30 in McColloms, north of Paul Smiths, Wednesday morning.
Police said Patricia Brannan, 59, of Brushton, was driving a 2005 Chevy Equinox around 9:15 a.m. when the vehicle hit some slush on the roadway and she lost control of it. The Equinox hit a tree and overturned, coming to rest in the middle of the road with the driver’s side of the car down.
Both Brannan and her passenger, 25-year-old Stephanie A. Brannan, also of Brushton, were trapped inside. State police helped free one of the women. The Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded with six members and one truck. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life, a hydraulic rescue tool, to extricate the other person from the vehicle.
The Brannans were taken to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, one by St. Regis Falls Rescue, the other by the Saranac Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad. Police and firefighters said they didn’t believe the two women had any serious injuries.
No tickets were issued.
Saranac Lake firefighters returned to the fire station at 10:44 a.m. The Paul Smiths-Gabriels Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene.
