Ex-Rep. Sweeney will host AM talk show

ALBANY – Former U.S. Rep. John Sweeney will begin hosting an AM radio talk show on Monday.

His show will air on TALK 1300 AM in New York’s Capital District from 11 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Sweeney announced the news Thursday morning as a guest on Paul Vandenburgh’s TALK 1300 show.

The Clifton Park Republican will join the station’s other conservative political talk show hosts like Fred Dicker, Melody Burns and Vandenburgh.

Sweeney represented part of the Tri-Lakes area – including Lake Placid, Keene and part of Saranac Lake – in the House of Representatives between his first election in 1998 and 2006, when he lost to Kirsten Gillibrand. Before being in Congress he was a state labor commissioner under Gov. George Pataki and an executive director of the state GOP.
