One injured after collision near Show Grounds
LAKE PLACID – One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a three-vehicle collision on state Route 73 early Saturday evening.
The Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department responded at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday to the incident on state Route 73 near the intersection with Old Military Road, in the vicinity of the North Elba Show Grounds.
Ray Brook-based state police said 17-year-old Dorothy Taro of AuSable Forks rear-ended a vehicle that was waiting in traffic ahead of her, driven by Pierre LaPlante, 29, of Malone. The impact caused LaPlante’s vehicle to jump forward into another stopped car, driven by Howard Glass, 64, of Keene Valley.
Police said Taro complained of minor neck pain and was taken to the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, where she was treated and released. No tickets had been issued as of this morning.
Firefighters assisted with traffic control, while members of the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service checked out a total of seven people involved in the accident.
The 15 volunteers who responded were back in service by 5:34 p.m.
