Sunmount resident charged with assault

TUPPER LAKE – A Sunmount resident was arrested last week after he allegedly tried to stab another Sunmount resident with a pen during a fight.

Tupper Lake-based state police arrested Corey H. Mooney, 28, at 3:15 Thursday and charged him with assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree with a previous conviction, a class D felony.

The state police online blotter lists Mooney’s residence as 65 Monroe Ave., Sunmount’s Center for Intensive Treatment, which is a highly structured, habilitative residential and day program within a secure setting. Residents there may not be formally charged with criminal behaviors but demonstrate dangerous actions which require a secure residential setting.

Tupper Lake-based state police declined to say whether Mooney was successful in stabbing the other resident or whether either of the residents was injured in the fight.
