Helping Dewey Mountain
To the editor:
Dewey Mountain Recreation Center would like to express appreciation for the community’s huge show of support this winter by inviting everyone to Dewey Mountain Day this Saturday, March 9.
Dewey Day is a free annual event, beginning with an Adirondack Paintball Biathlon Race at 10 a.m. (register 9:30). Or try the Icicle Obstacle Course, Snowshoe Scavenger Hunt, Ski Speed Trap, boxer-short relay, or burgers and dogs on the grill. There are fun activities for all ages and all snowshoe and cross-country ski abilities.
Dewey Mountain Youth Ski League would like to send out a special thanks to Maddens for the use of their wonderful heated garage and truck to assemble and pull our float in the Winter Carnival parade. Thanks also to Beth Donnelly and Chris Nobles for the trailer and to Natalie Leduc for the aquarium “glass” and other essentials.
Youth Ski League is also grateful to the Uihlein Ironman Sports Fund of Lake Placid, Adirondack Community Trust, Kiwanis Club of Saranac Lake, and the Eastern Outdoor Reps Association for grants that allowed us to purchase youth gear and make it available at no or little cost to any kid who wants to learn to ski.
Finally, Nonna Fina went above and beyond, preparing an unforgettable meal that raised $1,000 toward construction of a new base lodge. So far this winter, another 300 generous local households and businesses have pitched in to help reach that goal!
Thank you, all.
