Man charged with assaulting Sunmount resident
TUPPER LAKE – A man who has been a Sunmount employee was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a 48-year-old resident of the state facility for people with developmental disabilities.
Robert M. Sachatelli-Velez, 28, of Tupper Lake, was arraigned in Santa Clara town court in front of town Justice Michelle Garcia. He was charged with endangering an incompetent person, assault in the third degree and two counts of falsifying a business record in the first degree.
The Enterprise could not immediately determine what exactly happened in the Jan. 28 incident.
Sachatelli-Velez was released after posting $400 cash bail. He was ordered to appear in Tupper Lake town court at 4 p.m. March 20.
The state database website SeeThroughNY.net shows that Sachatelli-Velez worked at Sunmount at least between 2009 and 2012. His position is listed as a developmental disability secure treatment aid, which is an employee who works on the floor with residents.
