Saranac Lake man sentenced for drug sale
MALONE – A Saranac Lake man been sentenced to jail time, restitution and probation for selling drugs.
Francis J. O’Dell, 42, pleaded guilty to a charge of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance Thursday in Franklin County Court.
O’Dell had been arrested in October as part of a roundup of suspected drug dealers in the Saranac Lake area.
He was originally charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling the prescription drug Oxycontin and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He also was charged with two counts of fourth-degree conspiracy and a single count of fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance for selling methadone. The charges stemmed from incidents on June 13 and 14 of 2011.
After O’Dell entered his guilty plea to the fifth-degree criminal sale charge, Judge Robert Main Jr. sentenced him to five years probation, 180 days in the Franklin County Jail and $110 restitution.
