To the editor:

In my recent commentary, “It’s tax time … or not,” I stated, “Collectively, politicians accept approximately $3.3 billion a year from corporations in the form of campaign contributions.” The statement should have read, “Total lobbying spending from all sources in 2012, including corporations, was $3.3 billion.” According to “Open Secrets: Center for Responsive Politics,” in the 2012 election all candidates (including candidates in the primary races) running for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the office of president raised a total of $3.17 billion from all sources, not just corporations. I apologize for the error.
