Artist Gary Casagrain to speak at Library Luncheon
SARANAC LAKE – Gary Casagrain will present “Visual Notes: in Conversation with the Champ” at noon on Thursday, April 25 in the Cantwell Community Room at the Saranac Lake Free Library.
This is the last program in this year’s Library Luncheon series. Presentations will resume in November, 2013.
Casagrain has been selling his paintings ever since graduating from high school 30 years ago. Married to Barb, another Tupper Lake native, Gary originally worked and sold from their home. In 2007, this husband/wife team opened the Casagrain Gallery on Tupper Lake’s Park Street. Barb is a busy partner in their venture, making all the rustic-style frames for her husband’s many oils and canvas and paper giclee prints. The gallery also displays several of Gary’s unusual combination of original oils on functional furniture. His subjects, in a style referred to as “Adirondack Classic,” range from landscapes to portraits and from still lifes to native flora and fauna.
Casagrain, enthused about music as well as painting, enjoys conversing about both subjects. He will bring paintings to the library presentation and entertain with a lively discussion of his art.
Those attending are asked to bring soup or sandwich as well and enjoy desserts and beverages provided by the library’s Hospitality Committee.
The program is free and open to the public. For more information, call 518-891-4190.
