A shout-out to Saranac Lakers: We need you

To the editor:

Are you proud of our town and its unique history?

Do you have a positive attitude and enjoy helping others?

Would you like to advise visitors on where to shop and dine?

Are you a welcoming type who likes sharing your knowledge?

If you responded “yes” to any of the questions above, and have some spare time between July 4 and Sept. 2, you have what it takes to be a DOWNTOWN AMBASSADOR!

We’ve all seen nice folks looking a bit lost as they wander through downtown. We want to train you (very briefly!) in spreading goodwill and giving direction to those visiting our amazing village.

The idea is a sort of non-intimidating “greeter” on foot. Whether it’s greeting folks at the Union Depot or the farmers market, offering a map of businesses and historical sites, or simply saying “Welcome!” we want our guests to know how much we appreciate their making the trip to check out our wonderful home. Today’s visitors could be tomorrow’s neighbors, so let’s reach out and shake a few hands!

If this sounds like your cup of java, PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH US so we can spread the message: Saranac Lake isn’t only the Capital of the Adirondacks but the friendliest and most helpful village in the Adirondacks, too!

Thank you,
