57 plunged for good causes
To the editor:
The Builders Club of the Lake Placid Middle School would like to thank everyone for their support of the 6th annual Plunge for a Cause! More than 57 students and adults sprinted into Mirror Lake at noon on Saturday, April 20.
At the beginning of the week, the beach area was still covered with ice, and by Friday, Mr. Michael Bringley, middle school science teacher, took to his waders and tools to encourage the ice to melt faster under the supervision of Builders Club advisor Mrs. Patti McConvey.
There are many who deserve thanks. We would especially like to thank Arron Barney and Jordan Favro for suiting up and being on hand for water rescue.
We would also like to thank the Lake Placid Kiwanis Club, Lake Placid Fire Department, Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service, Lake Placid Village Clean-Up Committee, Lake Placid Middle/High School faculty and staff, Lake Placid Middle/High School teams and coaches, National Sports Academy, Northwood School, Lake Placid Elementary School, St. Agnes School, Price Chopper, Starbucks, Eric Harter, Michael and Brody Bringley, Sarah Adams, Kelly and Kevin Pangman, several anonymous donors and the many sponsors who pledged to have their favorite student or staff member “freeze for a reason.”
All donations will be divided equally among the Tri-Lakes Humane Society and the Lake Placid and Wilmington ecumenical food pantries.
