Bombers baseball tops Bobcats

ELLENBURG – Ryan Meyer did a little bit of everything Friday to lead the Lake Placid baseball team to a 6-2 victory over Northern Adirondack.

Meyer, a senior, recorded nine strikeouts and walked none over six innings of work to pick up the pitching victory. At the plate, he singled twice and had an RBI and a run scored.

Chris Williams came in to relieve Meyer in the seventh. Northern Adirondack had just two hits in the game.

The Blue Bombers scored twice in the third, then piled on four more runs over the fourth and fifth innings. Alex Brandes had two of Lake Placid’s eight total hits, while Kyle Shipman doubled.

Northern Adirondack scored single runs in the third and seventh innings. Evan Nichols and Dallas Page each singled for the Bobcats.


Saranac Lake 16, Beekmantown 3

BEEKMANTOWN – Brittany Woodruff, Jordy McDougall and Megan Kilory each had two hits as the Saranac Lake softball team racked up 11 hits on the way to a 16-3 victory over Beekmantown on Saturday.

Woodruff and McDougall each drove in two runs, while Kilory and Sierra Nye had one RBI apiece.

Brittany Tschirhart earned the pitching win after striking out seven over six innings of work. McDougall finished the game without allowing a run in the seventh.

Beekmantown mustered just four hits in the losing effort.


Saranac Lake 8, Ogdensburg 6

OGDENSBURG – Seth Pickreign and Jeff Stevens each scored three goals to lead the Saranac Lake boys lacrosse team to an 8-6 victory over Ogdensburg on Friday night.

Midfielder Oliver Holmes added two goals and Kevin Duguay had two assists for the Red Storm, who improved to 2-5. Mike Burpoe had a strong game in goal, recording nine saves.

Nick Perrigo scored three goals for the Blue Devils (2-5).
