Sidewalk work gets going again in Saranac Lake

SARANAC LAKE – Village workers will remove a section of sidewalk on Main Street, between the Wilson Farms convenience store and the DownHill Grill restaurant, beginning Monday.

Village Department of Public Works Superintendent Jeff Dora said in an email that the work will continue through the week as crews remove sidewalk pads and install new underground electrical conduit for street lights. Traffic will controlled by flaggers while this work is going on, Dora said.

Beginning May 13, crews from Luck Brothers construction will prepare this section for new sidewalks and then pouring concrete.

Meanwhile, the state Department of Transportation is working on sidewalks in various sections of the village this week as part of an effort to make the crosswalks compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The work includes replacing defective sidewalk pads in state rights of way.
