O’Leary sisters sweep singles

BEEKMANTOWN – The O’Leary sisters got the ball rolling and the Lake Placid doubles teams followed suit Wednesday as the Blue Bombers secured a 5-0 Champlain Valley Athletic Conference victory over Beekmantown.

Georgia O’Leary, a junior, won her first singles match 6-2, 6-2 over Olivia Wyand and Victoria O’Leary, an eighth-grader, won her third singles match 6-0, 6-0. Joan O’Leary, a senior, had a tougher time in her match, winning both sets in 8-6 tiebreakers.

Brenna Garrett and Kayla Hudson made quick work of their opponents with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first doubles and Liza Marinis and Sophie Morrelli won 6-3, 6-1 at second doubles.

“So far, we’ve had good experiences with sportsmanship with all our opposing teams,” said Lake Placid coach Jennifer Lawrence, “but I was just extremely impressed with what a good atmosphere Beekmantown created from coach Michele Lamontagne down through all her players.”
