Locks to open, be repaired
SARANAC LAKE – When the Lower Locks between Oseetah Lake and Second Pond in Saranac Lake open on Thursday, they will have to be manually operated for at least a few days, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
The locks aren’t operating properly because there are problems with the hydraulics and computer system, according to the DEC. Repairs are scheduled to start on May 14.
The locks will be manned by a seasonal worker starting on Thursday. At that time, the public will be able to open the locks by manually spinning the wheel for the lift.
