Garth B. Page

GROTON, Vt. – Garth Bruce Page, 76, of Goodfellow Road, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, N.H. following an extended illness.

He was born in Groton, Vt., March 27, 1937, a son of Raymond J. and Bessie (Frost) Page. He served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958, and later worked for Smith, Whitcomb & Cook Cast Iron Foundry in Barre, Vt. as a foundry foreman. He also had worked for Pike Industries, Maska of Bradford, Vt., and at the Blue Mountain Union School.

Garth enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with his brother Dick and his family. While stationed in Alaska, he especially enjoyed fishing for and eating salmon. He was also known to be quite a “tinkerer.” He loved vegetable gardening and his grandson, Bruce.

Garth will be remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.

He married Georgiana Frye on October 12, 1963.

Survivors include his wife Georgiana Page of Groton; their daughter, Pamela Jean Page of Montpelier, Vt.; their son, Curtis Bruce Page of Groton and daughter-in-law Karen Murphy Page of Saranac Lake; his grandson, Bruce Page; his sister, Phyllis P. Miller of Websterville, Vt., and his brother, Deane K. Page and wife Laura “Bing” Page of Groton; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and several members of Georgiana’s family.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Richard C. Page in 1976 and a nephew Kent A. Page on May 25, 1989.

There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. in the Groton Village Cemetery with Pastor Candace Ricker officiating.
