World Music Fest was wonderful

To the editor:

Dear Tri-Lakes community and beyond:

Thank you so very much for attending and showing your support for our World Music Festival on Saturday May 4! I am very grateful for the workshop leaders and volunteers who put in many hours, and all the sponsors who helped the event become a reality. Thanks to all of you, the first year of the World Music Festival was certainly a success.

Those who attended the hip-hop, Zumba, clogging, gumboot, Irish dance, African drum and dance, belly dance, yoga, Rhythm Om and didgeridoo creation workshops thoroughly enjoyed them! The Lake Placid Center for the Arts was overflowing with some seriously joyous fun! Kids Camp was filled with kids who created beautifully decorated shaker instruments, masks and traditional African brooms, and they had their faces painted thanks to the students from North Country School! The evening event was a huge success as well! Lots of energy and talent stepped on stage – even a dancer on stilts – and Green Goddess provided us with a gorgeous array of delicious food! There were certainly many reasons to smile on Saturday!

For those of you who missed it, be sure you attend the World Music Festival next year! We’re already starting to pull together the lineup, and it’s going to be a blast! Now, off to Kenya to share your generosity with children in need there! Thank you!
