Author Kate Messner to visit B’dale, Petrova elementary

Nationally recognized children’s and young adult author, Kate Messner, will visit Bloomingdale and Petrova elementary schools on June 12.

She will give an author presentation to the third-, fourth- and fifth-grade classes.

Messner lives in Plattsburgh and is the award-winning author of “The Brilliant Fall of Gianna Z.”

Recently, Messner was one of the recipients of the 2012 Crystal Kite Award given to authors and illustrators from regions around the world. Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Executive Director, Lin Oliver said, “Like the Golden Kite Awards, the Crystal Kites are selected by peers—authors and artists working in the children’s book field That makes them unique and especially satisfying to receive.”

Messner’s other titles include the “Marty McGuire” children’s chapter books, a young adult mystery series: “Capture the Flag,” “Hide and Seek” and the forthcoming, “Manhunt,” and the young adult novel, “Sugar and Ice,” about competitive figure skating in Lake Placid.
