Road washed out in southeast Adirondacks

BOLTON (AP) – Public works officials are trying to determine what caused a large section of a road in the eastern Adirondacks to wash away.

Officials in Warren County tell The Post-Star of Glens Falls that a section of county Route 11 connecting Route 9N and the Adirondack Northway was washed out in the town of Bolton sometime early Wednesday morning.

Several hundred feet of the north side of the road west of Lake George was washed away. The road remains closed but crews are working to make the other lane passable to one-way traffic, possibly as early as Wednesday afternoon.

Warren County Public Works Superintendent Jeff Tennyson says a beaver dam likely burst and caused the washout. The weather was clear and dry at the time of the washout.
