Police: Indian Lake school custodian had sex with student
INDIAN LAKE – A custodian at Indian Lake Central School was arrested June 3 and charged with rape for allegedly having sex with a student during his evening shift.
On June 3, Indian Lake Central School Principal David Snide told state police a female student had disclosed she was having a sexual relationship with an older male, according to a press release state police issued Thursday. Upon investigation, police identified the older male as 26-year-old Robert G. Naubereit, of Indian Lake.
State police located Naubereit at the school on June 3 and took him into custody. He was taken to the state police barracks in Indian Lake and charged with rape in the third degree.
Police said Naubereit, who was employed as a custodian at the school, met the girl after school hours and during his evening shift on several occasions. The meetings eventually led to inappropriate conduct by Naubereit and progressed to him engaging the student in a sexual relationship, police said.
Naubereit was arraigned before Indian Lake town Justice Thomas Atwell and was remanded to the Hamilton County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
