Take abortion out of Women’s Equality Act

To the editor:

Sometimes two persons die from legal abortions, both the mom and her unborn baby. Gov. Cuomo’s abortion expansion proposal would increase that risk. The legislation would allow non-physicians to perform abortions.

Furthermore, it would expand late-term abortion (which 80 percent of New Yorkers oppose), and late-term abortions are dangerous for women. Dr. Anne Nolte, who specializes in women’s care, states that, after six months, a live birth is safer than an abortion.

Another danger for moms and their unborn babies is that coercive abortions will be decriminalized.

Please call your state senator and ask that they vote against the Women’s Equality Act if the abortion expansion plank is not taken out of the bill. The abortion expansion plank is hijacking the rest of the Women’s Equality Act.
