Some sunshine expected this weekend

A strange yellow orb may appear in the sky for part of this weekend, but local residents shouldn’t be alarmed. It’s called the sun.

After several days of almost nonstop rain, which triggered flooding worries in Saranac Lake and flood damage in northern Franklin County, the National Weather Service in Burlington is predicting mostly clear skies tonight and sunny skies on Saturday, with high temperatures in the low 70s.

The nice weather may be short-lived, however, as forecasters were calling for a 30 percent chance of showers by Sunday afternoon and a 40 percent chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures were expected to be in the low to mid 70s.

The sun could return again by the middle of next week, with mostly sunny skies in the forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, and temperatures around 70 both days.
