Gertrude E. Roberts
TUPPER LAKE – Gertrude E. Roberts, 84, of Tupper Lake, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, June 17, 2013.
Born July 23, 1928, in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Roy and Blanche (Labrie) Gale. Gertrude married Ovide Roberts on Dec. 15, 1946. He predeceased her in 1978.
Mrs. Roberts worked at Mercy General Hospital for more than 30 years as a nurse’s aide. She went on to retire from Sunmount DDSO in 1994. Gertrude was involved with the Foster Grandparent program, working in the L.P. Quinn Elementary School library for a time. She was a member of the Legion of Mary and a communicant at St. Alphonsus Church.
She is survived by one son and his wife, Wayne and Janet Roberts; grandchildren; Michael Roberts and his wife Ellie, Tracy Roberts and her fiance Dan Wadsworth, Rose Atherton and her husband Adam, Craig Roberts and fiancee Jessica; great grandchildren: Chloe and Calli Becker, Patrick and Jonathon Bixler, Emily and Samantha Atherton, Emily, Caleb and Addison Roberts; two sisters: Dorothy Roberts and Loretta Ouellette; three brothers: Robert Gale, Richard and his wife Nancy Gale and Rodney Gale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son Donald and a brother Raymond.
Calling hours are scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 20 at St. Alphonsus Church.
