Volunteer for the railroad
To the editor:
Please be nice and respectful to the Adirondack Scenic Railroad and beyond.
I wish we could all get along and help get the railroad tracks upgraded and get trains running year-round between Lake Placid and Utica when it comes to ski season, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and summer tourists. That would help out the Adirondacks year-round. If you remove the railroad, there is no turning back. I support having railroad and trail run side by side.
I am volunteer on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, and we had more than 60,000 for 2011 and 2012 tourist season overall, and we’re off to a real good start this (2013) season. I hope we can keep on building on that for the next century.
So if you know anybody, please let them know the Adirondack Scenic is always looking for new volunteers when it comes to car hosting, trainman, conductor or engineer. We’d love to have you helping on any of our trains, either between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, Thendara/Old Forge to Big Moose and Otter Lake, or Utica to Thendara/Old Forge and Big Moose.
