Music venues help keep Placid economy alive

To the editor:

Regarding your article of July 25:

The proprietors of Smoke Signals and Delta Blue have done a tremendous thing for Lake Placid with their respective venues. To deny that Lake Placid’s nightlife keeps our economy alive – in the face of slow summers, in the face of inclement weather, in the off-season, always – is to stick our heads dangerously far down into the sand. I challenge the community at large to name one direct neighbor of either establishment that employs as many people, period. Especially now, when we’re busy enough for two months to pay our bills for the year, we absolutely have to be open for business, 24/7.

Let’s support our local businesses, day and night, as they support us. Thank you for your consideration.
