To the editor:
The Adirondack Carousel would like to thank WSLP and the entire Tri-Lakes community for coming out Friday, Aug. 23 and Saturday, Aug. 24, and celebrating our first annual Carousel-A-Thon.
Special thanks to WSLP’s Paul Varga, who successfully rode the carousel for 24 hours straight. Varga changed his wardrobe several times to promote the many themed hours that were celebrated throughout the event: business happy hour, ’70s hour, glow stick hour and pajama party hour. Varga wasn’t alone much as ride-athon challengers such as Katy Van Anden and Mary George took to their favorite animals to ride and ride and promote their businesses.
The event raised close to $5,000 in donations and sales that will be offered to support the many programs and events that the Adirondack Carousel will offer this fall and winter.
If you missed the Carousel-A-Thon, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Starting in September, the carousel will offer kids’ yoga and then continue throughout the fall and winter with the wildlife lecture series, Scarousel Halloween Party, Breakfast with Santa, gingerbread house making, Dr. Seuss Read Across America, Creative Arts Series and many more.
