Richard P. Boushie

Richard P. Boushie, 88, of Lakeview Avenue, Tupper Lake, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013.

Born on Nov. 26, 1924, in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Dorran and Dorothy (Denis) Boushie.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, enlisting on March 3, 1943, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

On Nov. 11, 1944, he married the former Phyllis McCauley at St. Alphonsus Church. Mr. Boushie was a general contractor and later specialized in refinishing hardwood floors. In 1999 he retired to care for his wife. They were also caregivers to her mother and his parents in their home until their death. Mr. Boushie’s legacy continues as he passed on his carpentry skills to his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his five sons: Kent and his companion Cheri Dye of Skaneateles, Scott and his companion Paige Davison, Rod and his companion Cathy Shaheen, Steve and his wife Jackie and Peter and his companion Jekla Rydzewski of Tupper Lake; five daughters: Shelley Brown and her companion Rod Nadeau, Anne Martin and her husband Scott and Rita Burgoyne and her husband Randy of Tupper Lake, Cindy McGill of Hemlock and Jane Denis and her husband Joe of Piercefield; 31 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Phyllis in 2008 and one son Paul.

Calling hours are scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
