Lake Placid soccer takes down Westport

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid boys soccer team got back to its winning ways Thursday with a 2-0 Northern Soccer League victory over Westport.

Nzoni Thompson gave the Blue Bombers a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 13th minute, then assisted on a Stuart Baird goal in the second half. Miles Lussi was credited with the assist on Thompson’s first-half goal.

Lake Placid outshot Westport 18-8. Chris Kordziel picked up the shutout in goal for the Blue Bombers.

Lake Placid returns to action Tuesday on the road at Willsboro.


Beekmantown 3, Lake Placid 0

BEEKMANTOWN – The Beekmantown volleyball team made short work of Lake Placid Thursday night with a 25-5, 25-8, 25-10 victory.

Brenna Garrett had three kills, Kiana Fell chipped in four assists and Alexis Megliore contributed four digs to lead the Blue Bombers.

Shannon Ryan paced the Eagles with 20 service points, six aces, nine kills and four digs.

AuSable Valley 3, Saranac Lake 0

SARANAC LAKE – The Saranac Lake volleyball team stuck with AuSable Valley early, but eventually dropped a three-game match 25-18, 25-21, 25-8.

Dakota Kilner, Brittany Woodruff and Samantha Martin each had three digs to lead Saranac Lake. Martin also served three aces.

AuSable Valley’s Miranda Sheffer was the star of the match with 10 aces, five digs and 10 assists.

The Red Storm travel to Beekmantown for their next match Tuesday.
