Community Bank awards grant to Wild Center

TUPPER LAKE – Community Bank has contributed $2,000 to help support The Wild Center’s popular Junior Naturalist Program, strengthening the Center’s ability to offer this program to children who visit the museum.

The Wild Center strives to reconnect adults and children to the natural world in innovative ways. The Junior Naturalist Program, offered to all young visitors of the center, provides an experience to learn about the Adirondacks while exploring the exhibits, real specimens and natural sites of the center using a newly enhanced, illustrated guidebook and questions adapted to specific age groups. More than 1,100 youngsters participate in this program annually.

The Junior Naturalist Program is a self-guided environmental education activity fitting into the center’s “no child left inside” programming, focused on engaging children in the natural world. The program is among the center’s most popular self-led activities for visitors coming from the community, local and regional schools, youth and church groups, as well as summer camp and seasonal museum visitors.
