Half-marathon, 10k thanks

To the editor:

On Saturday, Sept. 7, 320 runners took to the streets of Lake Placid and town of North Elba for the 43rd running of the Lake Placid/North Elba Half-Marathon and newly added 10K. This year, the race committee teamed up with the local Lake Placid/Wilmington Connecting Youth and Community (CYC) organization, which will benefit from the proceeds from the race.

CYC is a not-for-profit youth development organization made up of local community leaders, youth, parents and business partners. Their mission is to promote positive youth development, prevent teen problem behaviors and provide information, resources and support to parents and teens.

On behalf of the race committee, I would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers. Without their support, this event would not be possible. Recognition should be given to the CYC organization; National Sports Academy; our host hotel, Golden Arrow Resort; title financial sponsor, Serenity Packing Company; title sponsors Adirondack Health, Fallen Arch, Pepsi-Cola Bottling, Gilroy, Kernan and Gilroy Insurance, Lake Placid Sports Medicine Center, Stewart’s Shops, Bear Essentials, Lamb Lumber, Bob Modliszewski, and Art Devlin’s Olympic Motor Inn; our support sponsors Mountain Orthotics & Prosthetics Services, Adworkshop, Boyer’s Septic, Nancie Battaglia Photography, Price Chopper, Lake Placid Family Dental, Dennin & Dennin Law Firm, Hurley Bros., Kinney Drug, NBT Bank, The Market and Champlain National Bank.

A special thank-you to Butch Martin and the North Elba Park District, village of Lake Placid, town of North Elba, Olympic Regional Development Authority, New York State Police, Regional Office Of Sustainable Tourism and Ed Finnerty.

Lastly, a huge thank-you to the residents of our community (especially those on River Road) for your patience, understanding and tolerance to traffic pattern changes and road delays experienced during the race. We appreciate your patience for this great cause.

We look forward to the future growth of this race and continued community support for such a great event.
