Confident in the railroad
To the editor:
My name is Bradford Paulson. I am a member of the Utica and Mohawk Valley Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society as well as a member of the Adirondack Railroad Preservation Society and soon to be a member of the New York Central Historical Society. I feel the Adirondack Scenic Railroad is worth saving. It is viable source of transportation in our area, and tearing up the tracks from Old Forge to Lake Placid would hurt the railroad and the towns it is serving and planning to serve.
I am for seeing it go all the way to Lake Placid, and the help of Iowa Pacific adding its Pullman cars to the line will make it very profitable. I am looking forward to seeing the day that the Adirondack Scenic Railroad rolls all the way to Lake Placid from Utica’s Union Station. I know I have read a lot of things against the railroad by quite a few individuals who want to see half of the line torn up, but that is not going to be the case. I am sure our illustrious Governor Andrew Cuomo will be riding on the train that will go all the way to Lake Placid when the entire line is restored from Big Moose to Saranac Lake.
I will be happy to share my views with almost anybody about the Adirondack Scenic Railroad because it is a moneymaker for our region. It brings tourists who want to ride to the Adirondack Mountains, especially this time of year.
