Jay woman arrested under Leandra’s Law

A Jay woman was arrested Saturday and charged with violating Leandra’s Law, which since 2009 has made it a felony to drive drunk with a child in the vehicle.

Elizabeth A. Bradbury, 31, was arrested at about 11 p.m. Saturday and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 16 in the vehicle, under Leandra’s Law, a class E felony, moving from the lane unsafely and driving without a license.

Bradbury was driving south on the Adirondack Northway, Interstate 87, in the town of Peru when she was pulled over for weaving in and out of the lanes, state police spokeswoman Jennifer Fleishman said. Bradbury’s 4- and 5-year-old daughters were in the car, according to police.

Bradbury’s blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.13 percent, Fleishman said.

Bradbury was processed and released to a third party. She was scheduled to appear in Peru town court at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.
