Golf tourney helped boost scholarship fund
To the editor:
On behalf of the John R. Wisner Scholarship Committee, I would like to thank everyone who donated to and participated in the fifth annual golf tournament scholarship fundraiser on July 13 in memory of John “Bucky” Wisner, member of the Lake Placid High School Class of ’82. We had a great turnout and raised enough money so that we can continue to provide scholarships to two members of next year’s graduating class.
I would especially like to thank our business sponsors that also helped make the day a success: Out on a Limb, Price Chopper (Golub Corp.), Hannaford, Sugar Shack Dessert Company, Subway, Ben & Jerry’s, McDonald’s, Mr. Mike’s, Starbucks, The Fallen Arch, Central Garage, Lake Placid Pub & Brewery, The Breakfast Club, Main Street Pizza, Pan Dolce, Terry Robards Wines & Spirits, The Wine & Spirit Shoppe, Fitness Revolution, The Candy Man, Cake Placid, Jimmy’s 21, Freestyle Cuisine, Smoke Signals, Eastern Mountain Sports, Desperados, Green Goddess Natural Foods, Rite Aid, Downhill Grill, Swedish Hill Winery and Fanfare. The generosity of these sponsors was overwhelming, and we are thankful that these businesses continue to support projects in the community where they are located.
Butch Martin and his staff at Craig Wood were extremely helpful with our event. Jeff Estes and Dick Strack assisted us with setting up our event so that it ran smoothly. We could not have done it without them!
Joe Warren hosted a great after-golf party at the Craig Wood restaurant. There was terrific food, and our golfers enjoyed a great end to their day.
We could not have done all this without the dedication and support of all our volunteers. Thank you for your time and dedication to making this a great event for a great cause.
