‘Drifting into New Places …Winding Waters, Whimsical Woodlands’

SARANAC LAKE – “Winding Waters, Whimsical Woodlands,” is a collection of sculptures, photographs and digital art by portrait artist, Alice Vera.

The reception for the exhibit will open from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at NorthWind Fine Arts, 11 Woodruff St.

Food, good cheer, and a chocolate fountain will be served.

Vera is better known for her photographic portraits, and her business, Alice Vera Photography. She has been photographing people in the Adirondacks for almost 20 years.

“NorthWind Fine Arts has been a wonderful way to create a different kind of Adirondack art for the area,” Vera said.

Her sculptures combine wire with paper and water. The theme of the show is the beautiful waters and forests of Saranac Lake, and Lake Placid, as well as the wildlife. Many of the art pieces use driftwood found in the Saranac Lake waters.

Photographs, printed on wood, are another component of the show. Digital art is another medium for Vera, which she said she finds fun and enjoyable.

Vera’s presentation will offer a variety of art mediums, and showcase the beauty of the Adirondacks.

The display will run through Jan 2, 2014.
