Police say they caught Tupper man making meth
TUPPER LAKE – State and village police shut down a methamphetamine lab Wednesday.
Police said they arrived at the residence of Christopher J. Jessie, 36, of Tupper Lake, in the morning to serve him with an arrest warrant for violating his probation. Upon arrival, police said they observed Jessie throwing something into a wood stove, after which the smell coming from the stove changed to a foul odor.
Jessie was taken into custody and charged with the probation violation. Police obtained a search warrant for the property and returned that afternoon.
Jessie was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine and unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory materials, both felonies. He was arraigned at the Tupper Lake town court and remanded to Franklin County Jail in Malone in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
State police said the investigation is ongoing and further charges may be pending.
