Wind chills of -25 to -40 forecast for Adirondacks
ALBANY (AP) – Upstate New York north and west from the mid-Hudson Valley is under either a wind chill warning or advisory overnight into Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service says today the warning covering the Adirondacks and much of central New York means wind chill temperatures could reach 25 to 40 degrees below zero, while the advisory for the eastern part of the state said it could see 15 to 25 below.
The overnight forecast showed lows of 5 degrees in Buffalo, minus 4 in Syracuse, minus 21 at Old Forge in the western Adirondacks and 14 below in Poughkeepsie.
The weather will be milder Sunday as warmer air gradually moves in from the west before turning cold again early next week.
Here’s the latest forecast for the Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake area from the National Weather Service station in Burlington, Vt.:
Tonight: Clear until midnight, then becoming partly cloudy. Cold with lows around 23 below. Temperature rising to around 12 below after midnight. Light and variable winds.
Saturday: Partly sunny. Highs in the lower 20s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Wind chill values as low as 22 below in the morning.

Sunday: Cloudy with a 50 percent chance of snow showers. Highs in the lower 30s. South winds around 10 mph.
