LPCA’s presents an ‘Evening of Cabaret’ Jan. 16 to send off Matt Sorensen

LAKE PLACID – The Lake Placid Center for the Arts celebrates the tenure of box office Manager Matt Sorensen as he prepares to go to graduate school.

The “Evening of Cabaret” concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. Tickets are $15 and all proceeds go directly to help with the cost of Sorensen’s school expenses. Tickets are available by calling the LPCA Box Office at 518-523-2512 or online at www.lakeplacidarts.org.

It will be an evening of Broadway show tunes, classic jazz standards, popular oldies and more. From Rogers and Hart, Gershwin and Sondheim to George Benson, Elton John and Josh Groban, there’s something for the whole family.

Sorensen will offer up a varied selection of tunes, with accompaniment by New York City-based musician, actor and cabaret performer Kenney M. Green.


About Matt Sorensen

A graduate of Saranac Lake High School in the year 2000 and a 2004 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Matt Sorensen has been working locally and regionally in the arts for over a decade.

Sorensen has been a company member of Pendragon Theatre in Saranac Lake since fall 2000, where he has appeared as Clown #2 in “The 39 Steps,” Pirelli in “Sweeney Todd,” he played himself in “Completely Hollywood (abridged),” “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)” and “The Complete History of America (abridged),” El Gallo in “The Fantasticks” and Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors,” to name a few.

Sorensen’s local directing credits include “Pinocchio” and “Sleeping Beauty” for Pendragon Theatre, as well as “Chicago,” “The Sound of Music” and “Fiddler on the Roof” for Community Theatre Players, Inc. In 2012, he directed his first show at his HS Alma Mater, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and will return to direct this year.
