Blue Bombers girls hoops win second straight

CHAZY – The Lake Placid girls basketball team won its second game in a row Thursday with a 30-20 victory over Chazy. It was the first time in the last three seasons that the Blue Bombers won back-to-back games.

Lake Placid’s defense shut out Chazy in the first quarter on the way to a 14-6 halftime lead. The Blue Bombers sustained the intensity in the second half and held on for the win.

“It was a great team effort tonight to get us a road win,” said Lake Placid coach Jeff Potter. “All nine players contributed in some way to seal the victory for us.”

Chloe Uebrick led the Blue Bombers in scoring with 10 points. She also racked up six rebounds and three steals. Adele Jesmer chipped in six points, while Hanna Potter had nine rebounds and four steals and Emily Barney collected six rebounds and six steals.

Allison Tatro paced Chazy with nine points.

Lake Placid is on the road Wednesday at Willsboro then travels to Elizabethtown on Friday.


Plattsburgh 56, Saranac Lake 29

PLATTSBURGH – The Plattsburgh boys basketball team took a 27-5 lead after the first quarter and never looked back Thursday on the way to a 56-29 victory over Saranac Lake.

Devin Cowan was Saranac Lake’s top scorer with 12 points, including two 3-pointers. Teammate Carl Bevilacqua chipped in nine points.

The Hornets got scoring from each of its 12 players. Alex Follmer and Robert Matthews led the way with nine points each.

Saranac Lake returns to action Wednesday at home against Peru.
