Praise for Cape Air

To the editor:

On Dec. 30 I flew out of the Saranac Lake airport with Cape Air to Boston for the new year and was scheduled to return on Jan. 2 at 1:26 p.m.

When the storm hit Boston, all flights were canceled, and the airport was closed from 8 p.m. on the 2nd until noon on the 3rd. I was rescheduled to fly out on Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m.

All the staff at Cape Air, both in Boston and Saranac Lake, were incredibly helpful and friendly.

The Boston crew bent over backward to keep us informed, even at the Residence Inn in Chelsea, which was recommended to us. The inn itself was incredible, and the management there went out of its way to make sure we had everything we needed.

The flight into Boston was great, and I had the opportunity to be the “co-pilot” as it was a full plane. My flight back to Saranac Lake was the only one allowed to land in Saranac Lake the evening of Jan. 3, although it was touch-and-go with the extreme temperatures. The plane had to be jump-started, and there were only five of us flying.

The flight was amazing, as was the pilot, with a landing to beat all landings!

Congratulations to a wonderful airline, and thanks for the experience, Let’s hope Cape Air stays in Saranac Lake for years to come.
