Bombers’ hoops shoots down Willsboro

LAKE PLACID – Tarik Cecunjanin scored 16 points and Garrett Woodruff hit for 10 to lead the Lake Placid boys basketball team to a 52-27 Northern Basketball League victory over Willsboro on Tuesday night.

Woodruff scored eight of his points in the second quarter as the Blue Bombers outscored Willsboro 16-4 to take control of the game. Woodruff also pulled down 13 rebounds to lead Lake Placid in the paint.

Chris Kordziel chipped in seven points and five steals as the Blue Bombers avenged a loss to Willsboro earlier in the season.

Seth Swires led the Warriors with seven points, while Zach Pierson and Nick Arnold chipped in six points apiece.

Lake Placid is scheduled to host Elizabethtown on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Peru 52, Saranac Lake 27

PERU – The Peru girls basketball team outscored Saranac Lake 31-10 in the first half Tuesday on the way to a 52-27 victory.

Katie Buckley led the Red Storm in scoring with 11 points.

Peru’s Isabella Schaefer led all scorers with 12 points, while teammate Maria Remillard hit for 10.

Saranac Lake returns to action Thursday at home against Northeastern Clinton.
