Thanks for bringing cheer to nursing home

To the editor:

Thanks to the generous actions of our community, this year’s holiday season was even more special for the residents of Uihlein Living Center in Lake Placid.

Several community members and organizations graciously stepped forward to donate gifts or their personal time to those who make a home at the Living Center. We cannot fully express how much this lifted the spirits of our residents, especially those who may not have friends or family in the area.

There is never a better time to share one’s time or a simple act of kindness with our nursing home residents than right now. Visitors and community groups are always welcome at the Uihlein and Mercy Living Centers in Lake Placid and Tupper Lake. Our loyal corps of volunteers work in a variety of roles, so whether you’re able to volunteer your time or share a gift, you can brighten a resident’s day with the smallest gesture.

We look forward to seeing you and especially thank the following individuals and groups who were so giving of themselves during the holiday season as well as those who volunteer year-round.

Joey, Anna, Elizabeth and Jesse Izzo – sang for residents on Christmas Eve

Kiwanis of Lake Placid – poinsettias and gifts

Shirley Hosler – gifts for residents

American Management Association – gifts for residents

Northwood School – fleece blankets for residents

Betsy Sankosky – gifts for residents.
