Trivia night to benefit Palace Theatre
SARANAC LAKE -A 10-round trivia night will be held on March 1 to benefit the “Push for the Palace” effort to complete the Go Digital or Go Dark conversion of the Lake Placid Palace Theatre. North Country Public Radio reporter Brian Mann will prepare questions and serve as master of ceremonies for the evening at Saranac Village at Will Rogers, which is sponsoring the event.
“The Palace conversion is extensive, with four projectors to replace, and they are such an important part of our communities,” Will Rogers Activity Director Debbie Kanze said. “It is great to be able to support them.”
Palace Theatre owners Reg and Barbara Clark, invested more than $120,000 and two projectors are already converted. Their theater was not among the four receiving grants via the North Country Regional Economic Development Council.
It has been a long road to raising $280,000, and a focused “Push for the Palace” effort is underway with only $15,000 remaining to complete the work.
“We sincerely don’t know what we would have done without your monetary support,” the Clarks said in a prepared statement. “We thank you all!” Many, many people far and wide have contributed to Save the Palace.”
At 7 p.m., teams of eight may claim a table and enjoy a dessert buffet, complete with a chocolate fountain. Mark Gillis for Blue Line Brewery will offer four microbrews for donation, with 100 percent of proceeds going toward the Palace Theatre. Teams may also bring other food.
At 7:30 p.m., teams will begin to compete to correctly answer the questions.
Reservations are requested for this program. Participants are asked to register early. A limited number of teams (with a maximum of eight players) will be accepted. Reserve a table for $160 (only $20 per person). Text or call to Susan Waters at 518-637-1175 by Feb. 27.
