Theresa Hartford Saturday at BluSeed

SARANAC LAKE – BluSeed Studios presents Theresa Hartford on stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday .

Admission is $15 or $12 for BluSeed members.

Born in Portland, Ore. and grown in Cornish, Maine, Hartford’s musical style is as diverse as her background. Her powerful vocal ability ranges from a low sultry gravel, to a jazzy/rap, to the sweet and sentimental.

The 32-year-old draws from a variety of influences, including blues, gospel, soul, and jazz. She describes her music as folk, but grittier, and while she wants the overall product to sound good, she’s not striving for perfection with every note. The goal, in a word, is authenticity.

Hartford moved to the Adirondacks in 2006 and has since become a familiar face in the region’s vibrant music scene playing venues like the Left Bank Cafe, The Recovery Lounge, and Bluseed Studios.

She’s a regular at the regionally-renowned Hobofest in Saranac?Lake, an annual celebration of music and the hobo-lifestyle.

Her songwriting has been influenced by the likes of Greg Brown, Jeffrey Foucault, Brandi Carlile, Josh Ritter, and Anais Mitchell. For more information, call 518-891-3799 or email
